“I don’t like bad cookies, and I don’t like big, oversized cookies,” explained Mei-I Funtanilla. “They’re gross and disgusting.”
So it’s only natural that this former pastry chef at Serafina started her own gourmet cookie company and called it Sweet Miniatures. Funtanilla, who also tends to dislike soft cookies (”it’s a texture thing”), found a formula that works for her, making tiny cookies that she packages by the dozen and sells at various retailers in the Puget Sound area. Vanilla brown butter and toffee brownies are the top two sellers; other flavors include chocolate almond, milk chocolate chunk, chai, and white chocolate pistachio biscotti.
And while Seattle’s buzzing with word that two area chefs will be competing on Top Chef starting next month (see the story here), Funtanilla’s scored success of her own: Her cookies will be on the Rachael Ray Show – today.
For more info: Tune in to the Rachael Ray Show today (in Seattle, at 3 p.m. on KIRO-7), and check out the Sweet Miniatures website for more about the cookies – and where to buy them.
