Extra Bites: Quinn’s Wild Boar Sloppy Joe

Since we’ve been talking burgers lately, it’s a good time to get back to my extra bites of 2008 and tell you that one of the best bites on a bun had to be the wild boar sloppy joe ($10) at Quinn’s. Oh…luscious, luscious. I love the hot hit of jalapeno on it, and the crispy sage leaves are a nice touch.

I liked to pair the sloppy joe with grilled Caesar salad when available, but a plate of fries is also fine. Or, if you want to stay meaty (Quinn’s is a gastropub, so you might just be pairing with a beer!), how about a side of marrow bones or foie gras?

Great space that’s still popular, so you might want to try lunch hours if you want to be sure of a seat. Or, book the big table for your small group. Cheers to Scott and Heather Staples for getting the gastropub scene moving here in Seattle!

I played one of the best April Fool’s Jokes of my life on my blog by writing a posting saying I had denounced being Vegan because of Quinn’s Wild Board Sloppy Joes. I hadn’t but they looked good enough at the time that I considered it. I am not Vegan anymore and am planning on bee-lining to Quinn’s to (actually) try them.

I’d love to know what you think once you’ve tried the sloppy joe. Especially coming out of veganhood!

I tried Quinn’s Pub with friends recently. The food was plain and wasn’t worth the cost. Most in the group were unhappy with the food (even a few “gross” references) and the lack of creative and healthy menu items. Just doen’t seem the place for the more food enlightened. The next weekend we tried a new place just up the block which opened with great reviews call “Plum”. I really enjoyed it and I recommend it over Quinn’s if your in the neighborhood.
