Sliders and More at Matt’s in the Market

Matt\'s Lamb Burger Sliders
A few months ago, Matt’s in the Market competed in a berries and cherries “Dish-Off,” which I wrote up for Sound magazine and also posted here. Recently, we moseyed over to Matt’s not for a competition, but instead for a celebration of its new management and a few menu items.

Chef Chet Gerl and his crew served up a number of offerings, including four different sliders: lamb burger, braised beef brisket, catfish, and smoked pork belly. All were great (nice cornmeal crust on the catfish), but my favorite was the lamb, which anchored goat cheese, bacon, onions and aioli all on the little bun. Rich, rich, rich.

Matt may have left, but owner Dan Bugge is maintaining the spirit and quality of this quintessential Seattle restaurant.  Without hesitation, I’ve referred many locals and out-of-towners to Matt’s, as you’ll truly be eating fresh from the market.
